U.S. oil production keeping oil prices low

Washington (UPI) Mar 21, 2017
Crude oil futures started the day slightly improved Tuesday after falling for seven of the last 10 sessions. Oil is regarded as a barometer of the global economy, and while stocks have traded up since the start of President Donald Trump's administration, the bump seen in stock prices in other sectors of the economy may not be showing up for ... read more

Study IDs link between sugar signaling and regulation of oil production in plants
Upton NY (SPX) Mar 21, 2017
Even plants have to live on an energy budget. While they're known for converting solar energy into chemical energy in the form of sugars, plants have sophisticated biochemical mechanisms for regulating how they spend that energy. Making oils costs a lot. By exploring the details of this delicate energy balance, a group of scientists from the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National ... more

A new study provides solid evidence for global warming
Beijing, China (SPX) Mar 17, 2017
Global warming is driven by the Earth's energy imbalance (EEI): our planet traps more and more heat due to continuous increasing greenhouse gases. From the energy perspective, the global warming is actually ocean warming, since ocean stores more than 90% of the trapped heat. Therefore, ocean heat content (OHC) change is a fundamental indicator of global warming, thus direct measurement of OHC wi ... more
