Nigeria's president ditches bank chief who triggered $50B oil scandal

An explosive scandal over oil revenues in Nigeria has gone toxic, with President Goodluck Jonathan suspending the Central Bank governor who blew the whistle on $50 billion allegedly missing from state coffers, and accusing him of "financial recklessness." The mushrooming scandal seems certain to become a core issue in the run-up to 2015 presidential elections in Africa's most populous state - and one of the continent's top oil producers - and may imperil Jonathan's prospects of another term. ... read more
