U.S. consulting company Booz Allen Hamilton has established an office in Singapore to oversee company business in the Asia-Pacific region.

The opening of the office, which was announced Wednesday, is part of the company's expansion outside the United States. Late last year the technology consultants launched an office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, for business in North Africa and Gulf areas.

"Booz Allen Hamilton is very pleased to begin serving clients in Singapore," said company Senior Vice President Don Pressley, who oversees the Singapore office. "The nation's business-friendly operating environment and central location make it an ideal place in which to expand our firm's global presence.

"As we look around the globe we anticipate global growth to increase most rapidly over the next 10 to 20 years across India, China and Southeast Asia due to a burgeoning middle-class. This inherent demand will require investments across the region in government reform, infrastructure, healthcare services, transportation, and advanced manufacturing, all of which are focused capability areas of Booz Allen Hamilton."

Booz Allen said personnel at the Singapore facility will be small in number at first but will steadily increase.

Booz Allen said it is transforming with a strategy that places strong emphasis on innovation, analytics and engineering, and creates opportunities for the firm "to grow beyond its traditional geographic and consulting borders."
